Horary astrology: ask a question
Horary astrology answers one clear question with a chart cast for the moment and place it is asked. Following William Lilly's Christian Astrology (1647), the ruler of the 1st house stands for you, the ruler of the house of the matter stands for what you ask about, and the way these planets meet in the coming days shows whether, how and when it happens.
How horary astrology works
- Significators: the ruler of the 1st house is you; the ruler of the house of the matter is what you ask about; the Moon is your co-significator and the flow of events.
- Perfection: if the two significators come to an exact aspect before leaving their signs, the matter comes about. A trine or sextile is easy, a square comes with difficulty, an opposition brings regret.
- Prohibition, refranation, translation and collection of light: another planet may block the aspect, a planet may turn retrograde before it is exact, or a faster or slower planet may link the two.
- Reception: a planet in the sign of another is “received” by it, which shows goodwill between the two sides.
- Considerations before judgement: a very early or late Ascendant, a void Moon, the Via Combusta and Saturn in the 1st or 7th are traditional warnings.
