Free Vedic Birth Chart (Kundli)
Vedic astrology (Jyotish) uses the sidereal zodiac, aligned with the fixed stars, so your Vedic signs are usually about 24° earlier than your Western ones. The most important points are your Lagna (rising sign), your Moon sign (Rashi) and the nakshatra, or lunar mansion, the Moon occupied at birth, which also starts your Vimshottari dasha timeline.
Vedic and Western astrology
Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, tied to the seasons; Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, tied to the constellations. The difference, called the ayanamsa, is now about 24°, which is why many people find their Vedic Sun sign is the sign before their Western one. Vedic astrology also gives special weight to the Moon, the 27 nakshatras and planetary periods (dashas).
