Zi Wei Dou Shu (Purple Star Astrology)

Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗数) is a classical Chinese system that places 14 main stars and many minor stars in 12 palaces, each describing an area of life. The chart is built from your birth date in the Chinese lunar calendar and your two-hour birth period, so the birth time matters a great deal.

About Zi Wei Dou Shu

Tradition attributes Zi Wei Dou Shu to the Taoist Chen Tuan of the Song dynasty. The position of the Zi Wei (Purple Star, the emperor) depends on the lunar birth day and the five-element bureau of the Life palace; the other main stars follow in fixed patterns. Each year's heavenly stem turns four stars into the “four transformations” (prosperity, power, fame and obstacle), which add timing to the chart.
